In Stage 4 Chronic Kidney Disease, patients’ glomerular filtration rate (GFR) has a severe decline. Therefore, kidneys lose a large part of functions, resulting in a series of symptoms and complications. Here are common symptoms of stage 4 renal disease. Now, follow me to learn more about their causes and managements.
- High blood pressure
In most cases, kidney patients’ high blood pressure is caused by increased blood volume. Of course, kidneys failing to secrete some hormones that can lower blood pressure is another reason.
Treatment: Limit the intake of fluid and sodium, take some medications such as ACEI and ARBS, and do exercise regularly.
- Fluid retention
Extra fluid will collect in the body, when kidneys lose their ability to maintain fluid balance. In clinic, we call fluid retention swelling or edema. Besides, too much protein leakage may also trigger or worsen this problem.
Treatment: Control fluid and sodium intake, take diuretic or steroid, drink some herbal tea with diuretic property, and do Foot Bath as doctors guidance.
- Fatigue or weakness
This symptom is more likely to result from renal anemia. Because kidneys can’t produce EPO normally in stage 4 kidney disease, the body is unable to make enough red blood cells. Then, anemia occurs easily.
Treatment: Take erythropoietin treatment, eat more foods high in iron, and take iron supplement if necessary.
- Muscle cramps
Many patients with Stage 4 Chronic Kidney Disease complain muscle cramps, especially leg cramps, and this symptom is usually caused by electrolyte imbalance or poor blood circulation. This must affect their life and sleep quality.
Treatment: Limit the intake of potassium and phosphorus, eat more calcium-containing foods, take Medicated Bath, do gentle exercise, and so on.
- Urination Changes
Foamy urine, blood urine, frequent urination and less urine output are four common urination changes for patients with Stage 4 CKD. Foamy urine indicates protein in urine, blood urine means leakage of red blood cells, frequent urination may be a sign of urinary tract infections or low kidney function, while less urine output is just attributed to kidney damage.
Treatment: Since urination changes have a close link with low kidney function, patients should take some therapies that can help repair damaged kidney cells. They are Micro-Chinese Medicine Osmotherapy, Clear Blood Pollution Therapy and Immunotherapy.
Additionally, skin itching, loss of appetite, back pain, etc, are also common symptoms of Stage 4 Chronic Kidney Disease. If you want to know more about them or effective treatments in detail, you can consult the doctor online directly or email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
