Diet suggestions

1. Protein: protein intake in stage 3 is 0.8kg/body weight. Although it is important to have a low-protein diet, at least half of your protein should come from high quality protein foods that contain all the essential amino acids like egg whilte, fish, lean meat and so on.

2. Fluid: in stage 3 renal failure, fluid is not restricted until you experience fluid retention. Sude weight gain, shortness of breath, swelling in feet, hands, face and high blood pressure are signs of fluid retention. Therefore, according to your illness condition, drink a correct amount of water.

3. Sodium: the sodium intake for stage 3 patients is 1000-4000mg/day based on blood pressure, fluid balance and the presence of other disease that may affect sodium requirements.

4. Phosphorus: a diet with no more than 800mg phosphorus can help. Hence, foods with high phosphorus should be avoided like cheese, milk, nuts, seeds and yogurt.

Exercise suggestions:

Generally speaking, quite a number of exercise can help stage 3 kidney failure patients ease some symptoms and strengthen immune system.
