Why Do Kidney Failure Patients Have Congestion in The Chest

Why Do Kidney Failure Patients Have Congestion in The ChestCongestion in the chest or lung often occurs among Kidney Failure patients, even though patients have begun dialysis. This symptom is often accompanied by shortness of breath. How does failed kidney cause this problem?

As we all know, the most important kidney function is to produce urine and eliminate extra fluid. However, failed kidneys must lose this ability, so extra fluid will collect in the body. In severe cases, fluid retains in the lungs, resulting in pulmonary edema, congestion in the chest and difficult breath.

Dialysis is one helpful therapy to replace damaged kidneys to remove extra fluid. However, in some cases, dialysis doesn’t work every well, or patients drink too much fluid during dialysis sessions. This may cause dialysis patients to suffer from congestion in their chest.

From this point, it is a must for kidney failure patients to limit their fluid intake. General speaking, the amount of fluid for kidney failure patients is about 500 ml plus the previous day’s urine output. This is enough to meet the body’s need and doesn’t cause extra fluid retention.

Besides, patients may need to take some medications like diuretic to ease this symptom, if patients still have urine output. These medications are used to stimulate the kidneys to produce more urine, taking away extra fluid.

The last but not the least, if patients still have certain kidney function, they should take some treatments that can help improve their kidney function. Until now, Micro-Chinese Medicine Osmotherapy, Clear Blood Pollution, Immunotherapy, etc, are proven to be effective on reversing kidney damage and increasing the self-curative ability of damaged kidney cells.
