What Causes the Progression Chronic Kidney Disease Caused by HSPN

HSPN, Henoch Schonlein Purpura Nephritis as its full name, is a kidney disease that is triggered by the development of Henoch Schonlein Purpura. If uncontrolled, it will progressed into advanced chronic kidney disease eventually.

What causes the progression CKD caused by HSPN?

The underlying cause of CKD is purpura in patients. However, some additional triggers will promote the progression. As it is a kidney problem related to immune system, any triggers on kidney damages and immunity decline will worsen patient’s condition.

Cold and Infection

HSPN is caused by the underlying immune system. In normal conditions, the immune system helps fight against the virus from outside. However, in HSPN patients, the immune system fails to remove the virus, and instead the virus builds up in the blood can spread with the blood circulation. And when it deposits in the kidney tissues, it causes scarrings.

Any cold or infection will worsen the damaged immune system and cause more virus builds up in the kidney tissues. This increases the CKD progression.

High Blood Pressure

High blood pressure is a common system of HSPN and meantime it is also a cause to rapid progression of Chronic Kidney Disease. Blood pressure is the force of blood fluids to blood vessels. In high blood pressure, the blood will pull a stressed force to the renal blood vessels, causing the further renal artery scarred.

HSPN Relapse

Any relapse will put the kidney damage into a more advanced Kidney Disease Stage and this goes for HSPN. Easy and frequent relapse usually occurs in patients with Purpura Nephritis. You are suggested to follow a special Diet and receive the medical Treatment to prevent the reoccurrence. As for the prevention, the herbs that help improve the immune system may be involved.

Protein in Urine

Protein in urine is a symptoms of purpura nephritis. In disease kidneys, the useful protein is filtered out of the blood, causing protein in urine. Patient with protein in urine is at a higher risk to lead to a poor prognosis than those who is not, because proteinuria itself can cause damages to the glomeruli.

Besides these causes, some others may also promote the progression of Chronic Kidney Disease. If you need any help, please send email to
