High Blood Pressure, Headache, Back Pain in PKD

Polycystic kidney disease (PKD) is featured with numerous cysts in kidneys. With age, the cysts will enlarge persistently, thus leading to a number of symptoms. High blood pressure, headache and back pain are commonly seen in PKD.

High blood pressure

High blood pressure is usually the first sign of PKD. It is also an dangerous factor in worsening renal function. As cysts enlarge, they will compress the adjacent kidney tissues, thus leading to renal ischemia and anoxia. Then renin-angiotensin-aldosterone(RAS) system will be activated, thus resulting in high blood pressure.

High blood pressure is a common cause of headache in PKD. Meanwhile, it also can cause dizziness. High blood pressure can cause more strain on kidney and worsen renal function rapidly.

Additionally, cerebral aneurysm is a complication of PKD. It is a disorder in which the wall of cerebral artery dilates. If blood pressure is high, it can cause rupturing of the aneurysm, which can cause severe headache and even threaten the patient’s life. Therefore, it is important to control high blood pressure.

Back pain

Back pain is a very common symptom of PKD. It can become more serious as the cysts enlarge persistently. Usually, the patients only have mild pain, but if the cysts rupture, it will cause very intense back pain.

For the above symptoms of PKD, conservative treatments are designed to control them respectively. However, as they can not eliminate their causes, the symptoms can not be controlled completely.

As high blood pressure, headache and back pain are the results of PKD, the treatment goal should be controlling the disease itself. While there is no a cure for genetic disorder, aggressive treatment can help stop the cysts from enlarging.

Micro-Chinese Medicine Osmotherapy is an alternative treatment for PKD. More than 25 years’ clinical practics have proved that this therapy is very effective. It aims at shrinking the large cysts and shrinking the small ones by killing the epithelial cells on cyst wall. It can treat PKD and the associated symptoms effectively. Thereby, it can stop PKD from developing into renal failure.
