The Misdiagnosis of One Diabetic Nephropathy Patient

The Misdiagnosis of One Diabetic Nephropathy PatientDiabetic Nephropathy is one common secondary kidney disease, and its pathopoiesia is that diabetics' viscous blood leads renal microcirculation to be blocked. This pathogenesis is just like the onset of diabetic foot disease and diabetic eye disease. Thereby, the treatment of Diabetic Nephropathy should begin from cleansing the blood.

Director Zhao Fengbo received one Diabetic Nephropathy patient. Mrs Yang is 55 years old from Heilongjiang province. In 1996, because of more eating, more drink and more urine output, she got test in the local hospital and was found to fasting blood-glucose 8.0mmol/L and 2 hour post-meal blood sugar 12mmol/L. Then, she was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, so she begun to take hypoglycemic drugs. However, the therapeutic effect was bad.

In 2009, her legs showed swelling and she had proteinuria +. Accordingly, she was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, diabetic nephropathy and high blood pressure. Then, she continued to take anti-hypertensive medications and hypoglycemic agents, but her illness condition often floated. In order to control her blood sugar and blood pressure better and take systemic treatment, Mrs Yang came to Shijiazhuang Kidney Disease Hospital.

Since it was Diabetic Nephropathy, Director Zhao Fengbo first checked the patient's insulin antibodies instead of rushing to develop a treatment plan. To his surprise, this patient had type 1 diabetes rather than type 2. The treatments for type 1 diabetes and type 2 diabetes are quite different. From the test report, we can know this patient was misdiagnosed.

As introduced by Dr. Zhao, the treatment for diabetic nephropathy should begin from controlling blood sugar to improving renal ischemic condition through Chinese medicine's activating blood and removing stasis. As a result, kidney function can be restored.

To treat this patient, the doctor firstly adjusted her hypoglycemic agents and then applied our hospital's special oral taking medicine along with Hot Compress Therapy and Foot Bath. After about half a month's treatment, the patient's hands and feet became warm and the feeling of numbness disappeared, and her proteinuria turned to negative. After about one month's treatment, damage to renal tubules has been reversed.

Through this treatment, Mrs Yang's biggest feeling is that every patient should firstly get correct diagnosis and then take treatment. So many years' bad therapeutic effects are due to misdiagnosis. Fortunately, Dr. Zhao gave her a right diagnosis and treatment plan. Otherwise, she may develop renal failure quickly.
