Pediatric Nephrotic Syndrome, High Creatinine Level, Proteinuria

Q: My son was diagnosed with nephrotic syndrome since 2 years ago and I attach his medical report. Please make an analysis for him. Thanks. Dr said he has high creatinine level and proteinuria. Is there any effective treatment for this condition?

A: I have read your son's reports. His serum creatinine is much higher than the normal range. Does your local doctor suggest him take dialysis? And what kind of treatment is he taking now? Does he have swelling? In his reports, he has large quantity of proteinuria which is nearly 6g, so he must take treatment to reduce it, or it will worsen his kidney disease.

Nephrotic syndrome is a kind of auto-immune system disease, and the main reason for this disease is damaged immune system.

Nearly 95% of kidney diseases are the result of damaged immune system and low immunity. When our immune system is damaged, the harmful foreigners can not be removed when they enter our body, they will be accumulated in our body, forming immune complex connecting with antibodies in our body. These immune complex will move to other organs with the blood circulation. When they achieve to kidney, they will cause damage to our kidney.

Kidney is the main organ to clear our blood and discharge out the toxins accumulated in our body. Our kidney has a layer of filtration membrane which consists of Glomerular epithelial cell, glomerular basement membrane and glomerular endothelial cell. Once this this layer of filtration membrane is damaged, protein or red blood cells will be leaked into urine.

The reports said the color of his urine is pale. The urine color of healthy people is faint yellow. That suggest your son's kidney's function of discharging poison has been damaged seriously.

For your son's disease, a systemic treatment is necessary, or he will have to receive dialysis and kidney transplant. If you don’t mind, I will suggest immunotherapy. It helps rebuild the immune system and uses the new immune system to fight against the Nephrotic Syndrome.
