Diet to Reduce High Creatinine 2.79 for Nephrotic Syndrome

Diet to Reduce High Creatinine 2.79 for Nephrotic SyndromeFor Nephrotic Syndrome patients, high creatinine 2.79 indicates more than 50% of kidney function has lost. Even though creatinine itself is nontoxic and harmless, effective methods should be taken to lower it. A healthy diet plan can help reduce high creatinine level to some extent.

What is creatinine?

Creatinine is one waste product generated from creatine during muscle metabolism, and normally, kidneys are responsible for discharging this waste product out of the body. For healthy people, the formation and excretion of creatinine in the body stays in a relatively stable condition. Our kidneys have strong compensatory ability, so serum creatinine level can still range from 0.5 to 1.2 mg/dl if kidney function is still higher than 50%.

Diet to lower high creatinine level for Nephrotic Syndrom patients

1. Limit the intake of creatine-containing foods

As the above mentioned, creatinine comes from creatine which is found commonly in meat. In view of this, patients should control their meat intake to avoid the extra intake of creatine. Pork, mutton, chicken, and some other types of meat all contain creatine.

2. Develop a low-sodium diet plan

The recommended sodium intake for Nephrotic Syndrome patients ranges from 1,500 to 2,500 mg every day, because extra sodium can worsen these patients’ health condition especially swelling and high blood pressure.

3. Follow a low-protein diet

Protein metabolic waste products are excreted by kidneys, so if patients take in too much protein, kidneys need to work harder to eliminate the waste products that can cause further kidney damage easily. A worsened kidney condition can cause creatinine level to increase.

4. Eat more vegetables and fruits

Some vegetables and fruits are proven to have the property of lowering high creatinine level such as cucumber and cranberry. If you want to know more about these foods, you can email to to get such a food list.
