How Long does It Take to Get off of Cellcept and Nephrotic Syndrome

Nephrotic Syndrome, cellceptCellcept contain the active ingredient mycophenolate mofetil, which is a type of medicine called an immunosupressant. These medicines reduce the body's immune response. If Nephrotic Syndrome patients have too many relapses, the doctor may prescribe cellcept. Then, how long does it take to get off this medicine and Nephrotic Syndrome?


Cellcept works by making the immune system less active, so it can be used to help relieve the symptoms of NS. The medicine comes in the form of a tablet, a capsule, a liquid suspension, and an intravenous (IV) injection.

For steroid-dependent Nephrotic Syndrome, the medicine can reduce the disease's relapse rate and dosage of steroid. Several weeks later after taking this drug, patients may can see some improvements.

Disadvantages of this medicine include: 1) There are some commonly seen side effect from cellcept: diarrhea, vomiting, pain, stomach area pain, swelling of the lower legs, ankles and feet, and high blood pressure, etc; 2) It fails to help patients get rid of NS, as it is only a symptomatic remedy.
