Main Symptoms of Chronic NephritisChronic Nephritis refers to the inflammations that occur in the kidneys. It is a complex kidney disease. Due to different causes, there are significant differences in the progression of this disorder. It usually take years to develop into chronic kidney failure. In clinical, the main symptoms include:

Swelling(edema)

Due to damage, kidneys can not satisfy the needs to excrete water and regulate the substances in the body. Excessive water and sodium deposited in the glomerular and then lead to swelling.

Swelling usually occur around the eyelids, faces and both lower limbs. In general, it is mild or moderate swelling. When it develop into kidney failure, there may occur pleural effusion, ascites, etc.

High blood pressure(hypertension)

The increasing of high blood pressure are mainly two reasons:

Because of kidney damage, the filtration rate of glomerular decreased and the fluid retention lead to the increase if blood volume, high blood pressure may occur.

At the same time, due to insufficient supply of blood to the kidneys, the secretion of renin and cholesterol will increase accordingly. Consequently, blood pressure will be elevated.

The elevated blood pressure caused by chronic nephritis are not that severe, the systolic blood pressure is 150-180mm Hg and the diastolic blood pressure is 90-120mm Hg. After the use of diuretics or beta blockers, blood pressure can be controlled effectively.

Abnormal urine

The abnormal urine caused by chronic nephritis are mainly protein in urine and blood in urine.

Urine occult blood consists of gross hematuria and microscopic hematuria. Gross hematuria is invisible, and usually accompanied with a state of opacity.
