How Does Lupus Affect Patient’s Renal System

How Does Lupus Affect Patient’s Renal SystemLupus nephritis is a kidney disease that is caused by systemic lupus erythematosus, which is an autoimmune disease. But, how does lupus affect patient’s kidney system on earth?

What is lupus?

Lupus is a disease that can be affected by many factors, which will cause disorder in patient’s immune system. And for patient with lupus, the most obvious feature is that can produce lots of autoantibody, which will combine with antigen, and then form immune complexes.

How does lupus affect patient’s renal system?

When the damage caused by lupus mainly appears in patient’s kidney, that will be called lupus nephritis.

As we know, lupus will cause patient to have autoantibodies that will attack his own body system. While, when the target of patient’s autoantibody is his kidney, that will cause patient to have lupus nephritis.

Besides, even if patient’s lupus nephritis is not caused by the attack of patient’s autoantibody in patient’s kidney, there will be lots of immune complexes that are produced by the attack in other organs and tissues. These immune complexes will be transported by patient’s blood circulation, and when these immune complexes are transported to patient’s kidneys, they may accumulate in there, and that can also cause patient to have lupus nephritis.

Can lupus nephritis be reversed?

As a matter of fact, kidney disease can be divided into the acute and the chronic, so is lupus nephritis. If patient’s lupus nephritis is acute, that is able to be reversed, but if patient’s lupus nephritis is chromic, that will be dangerous, because it will progress slowly, and there is no cure in clinic so far.

Thereby, if patient has found he has chronic lupus nephritis, he should take measures to slow down its progression as soon as possible. Lupus nephritis can not be reversed, but it can be controlled.
