What Does Creatinine Level 1.8 Mean

Creatinine is the waste product of muscular metabolism and its normal range in is 0.6~1.2 mg/dl, although this can differ from lab to alb, between men and woman and by age. But creatinine level 1.8 obviously is higher than the standard levels.

What does creatinine level 1.8 mean?

As mentioned above, creatinine is a kind of waste products. When your kidneys can work well, the excessive creatinine will be filtered out of the body. Thereby, usually high creatinine level is an indicator of kidney damages. When your creatinine level begins to elevate, it always tells that at least 50% of kidney functions has been damaged.

However, not all high creatinine levels totally result from kidney function decline. Some additional factors may also be the triggers, such as long-time standing, strenuous exercise, much intake of protein food etc. These causes lead to temporary high creatinine levels and in each of these conditions, high creatinine levels will be lower down spontaneously, causing no severe problems.

If you high creatinine levels last for a long time, it always indicates a kidney-related problems. If your creatinine level 1.8 exists longer than 7 days, you’d better to talk with a nephrologist and he or she will help find whether your kidneys are involved and how severe your condition is.

Experts divide the Chronic Kidney Disease into 5 stages, according to the severity of kidney damages. You can find creatinine 1.8 corresponds with CKD stage 2--a mild kidney damage, in the following CKD stages chart.

CKD stages stage 1 stage 2 stage 3 stage 4 stage 5
Serum Creatinine <1.6 mg/dl 1.6-2.0mg/dl 2.1-5.0 mg/dl 5.1-7.9mg/dl >8.0mg/dl

In this stage, usually patients feel no symptoms and maybe in some cases, they can feel high blood pressure, Back Pain, or mild nausea. This is not a severe condition, thereby, Diet changes and Natural Therapy will help make your kidney damage under control.

But you are suggested to take treatments as soon as possible. If it develops into CKD stage 3, it will be hard to reverse the missing kidney functions. But to case of CKD stage 2, complete remission is possible. To achieve the goal, Special Diet, Chinese Herbal Medicine and Medicated Bath may be necessary.
