Diet For Patient With High Creatinine

Diet For Patient With High Creatinine High creatinine often means patient’s kidney function has been severely damaged, so it is important for patient to take measures to protect his kidney function and overall health condition.

As we know, diet plays an important role in regulating our body health, and it is also very important for patients with kidney disease. So, a diet habit that is suitable for them is essential, and there are many aspects should be considered by them.

1.Appropriate protein intake:

For patients with high creatinine, they should be careful in regulating their protein intake, because protein is an important nutrient for our body, and it can also produce lots of metabolic wastes which need to be filtrated out by kidney. So, the essential amount of protein should be guaranteed, but avoid having much excess protein.

The recommended protein intake for healthy people is 0.8g/kg per day, which is also suitable for patient with high creatinine. But patient should regulate his protein intake according to his own condition.

3.Abundant vitamin intake:

Patient should also guarantee abundant vitamin intake in his diet, because vitamins are very important for our body function, like vitamin C, which is an essential part fo our immunity.

4.Potassium intake:

Patient with high creatinine may need to pay attention to his potassium intake, because kidney damage often causes patient to have the metabolic disorder of potassium, and that can cause lots of problems to patient’s body health.

Patient with kidney damage often has hyperkalemia, but sometimes also has low sodium in blood, and patient will need to regulate his potassium intake according to his own condition.

5.Phosphorus and calcium intake:

Phosphorus and calcium compete for absorption, and total their product is maintained in constant range. The increase of calcium will cause the decrease of phosphorus, and it is the same in the other way round.

Kidney damage often causes patient to have high phosphorus and low calcium, which may cause them to have problems like muscle cramp, itching, renal osteopathy, etc.
