What Does Creatinine Level 2.4 Mean In FSGS

What Does Creatinine Level 2.4 Mean In FSGSFocal Segmental Glomerulus Sclerosis (FSGS) is a kidney disease which mainly causes damage in patient’s glomeruli. In fact, FSGS progresses slowly, and patient’ s condition can progress into kidney failure eventually.

For patients with FSGS, an important standard to assess their kidney condition is their creatinine level. If a patient has creatinine level 2.4, what does it mean?

Why patients with FSGS have high creatinine?

Creatinine is a metabolic product of muscle, and it should be filtrated out by kidney. And it will not be reabsorbed back by kidney tubule, so its level in blood can reflect patient’s kidney function.

In fact, our kidney has strong metabolic ability, and high normal kidney function will be able to guarantee our body health. Thereby, high creatinine will not appear unless more than half kidney function is damaged.

Thereby, when patients with FSGS find they have high creatinine, that means their kidney function has already been damaged severely.

What does creatinine level 2.4 mean in FSGS?

For heathy people, their creatinine level changes in a stable range, and that is 0.5~1.3mg/dL. As a result, creatinine level 2.4 is much higher than normal.

As we have said, FSGS mainly causes damage in patient’s glomeruli, which have the function of filtration. So, when lots of glomeruli are damaged, patient’s glomerular filtration rate (GFR) will go down, and when more than half glomeruli are damaged, patient will have high creatinine.

What’s more, creatinine level will not have obvious rise unless the damaged part reaches two thirds, which means patient must be in the late stage of FSGS, and many health problems can appear at this point.

Kidney disease is very severe, so patients need to take measures positively to deal with their condition. If you have any trouble in this process, you can leave us a message about your condition and problem, we will do what we can to help you.
