Why Do I Feel I Am Too Much Drained Out From Dialysis

Why Do I Feel I Am Too Much Drained Out From DialysisPatient: I have Stage 5 CKD and am on dialysis for 4 years and a half. However, I always feel I am too much drained out from dialysis. Can you tell me the reason?

Doctor: It is common that dialysis patients have a drained out feeling. This symptom is more likely to be due to increased ultrafiltration.

Generally, to make patients live easy and safe with dialysis treatment, doctors in dialysis center need to firstly determine patients’ dry weight and correct fluid gain during two dialysis sessions. However, it is uneasy for Stage 5 CKD or kidney failure patients to control their fluid intake strictly as doctors advise. Once they drink extra amount of fluid during dialysis session, increased ultrafiltration is needed to remove excess fluid that can make patients feel drained out easily.

In most cases, this feeling may be accompanied by low blood pressure, muscle cramps, nausea, vomiting or other discomforts.

From the above analysis, we can know it is very important for dialysis patients to control their fluid intake strictly. If you still don’t know how much fluid to take in, you can consult the Doctor online directly.

In order to improve your life quality, some other therapies such as Medicated Bath, Foot Bath, Acupuncture, Hot Compress Therapy can be used. All of these therapies are external application and don’t have any side effects. If you still have urine output or certain kidney function, these therapies accompanied with Micro-Chinese Medicine Osmotherapy, Clear Blood Pollution Therapy or Immunotherapy may even help you get rid of dialysis or at least reduce the frequency of dialysis.
