What Can Cause CKD Patient To Have Bubbles In Urine

What Can Cause CKD Patient To Have Bubbles In Urine Chronic kidney disease (CKD) can progressive disease, which will damage patient’s kidney function gradually, and CKD patients often have foams in their urine.

As we know, a major function of kidney is producing urine, so when patient’s kidney is damaged by his disease, it is common for him to have symptoms in his urine, and bubbles in urine is also very common.

Why CKD patients have bubbles in their urine?

In fact, many factors can cause our urine to be foamy.

The tension of our urine surface is low in normal condition, but when there are organic matters or disorganic matters in urine, its tension will rise, which will causes our urine to have bubbles easily under the effect of gravity. For example, it is common for patients with diabetes to have bubbles in their urine.

But for patients with CKD, their bubbly urine is more likely to be caused by massive proteinuria, which is due to kidney damage. When a certain amount of protein leaks through patient’s urine, there will be lots of small size bubbles on patient’s urine surface, and they will need a long time to disappear.

Why do CKD patients have bubbly urine caused by proteinuria?

Nephron consists of glomerulus and kidney tubule, and there is glomerular filtration membrane in glomerular mesangial area, which is in charge of filtrating out the metabolic wastes from body and keeping the nutrients in blood.

While when patient’s kidney structure is damaged by his disease, that will also lead to damage in glomerular filtration membrane, which will cause useful substances that should be kept in blood leaking out through urine, and protein in urine will also leak out in this process. That is why patients with CKD often have proteinuria and bubbly urine.

In fact, foamy urine is a dangerous condition for patient with CKD, because it can aggravate patient’s kidney damage obviously if it has not been well controlled. So, patient should take measures to deal with it as early as possible.
