Common symptoms of stage 3 CKD

Common symptoms of stage 3 CKDPatients in stage 3 chronic kidney disease (CKD) have a GFR of 30~59ml/min, and they have moderate damage in their kidney, which may cause them to have some common symptoms.

Fatigue

Patients in stage 3 CKD may often feel fatigue, which is mainly caused by anemia. In this stage, the anemia is mainly caused by the decrease of hemopoietin’s secretion, which can cause the shortage of red cells.

High blood pressure

Patients often have hypertension in this stage. Hypertension in patients with kidney disease is mainly caused by the retention of sodium and water or the increase of renin secretion. Hypertension can aggravate patients’ condition obviously if it has not been well controlled.

Edema

Edema can also appear to patients in with stage 3 chronic kidney disease. Patients may have edema in their ankles or around their eyes in the beginning, while if it has not been controlled, patients may have severe edema in their lungs and stomach, which may even make patients hard to breath.

Urine changes

Patients with kidney disease must will have some changes in their urine. While for patients with stage 3 CKD, they may have colored urine, and the urine color may be red, tea colored, brown, and so on. Besides, patients’ urine may be foamy, which is caused by proteinuria. And patients may also find they have frequent urine at night.

Kidney pain

If patients have polycystic kidney disease or kidney cyst, they may have pain in their back around their kidneys in this stage.

Itching

Patients may have itching in this stage, which can reduce their life quality and emotion obviously. This may be caused by the accumulation of urea nitrogen or drug allergy.
