What to Eat with CKD Stage 4

CKD Stage4,DietCKD is divided into 5 stages. Stage 4 is an advanced condition in which kidney function ranges from 15%~30%. A healthy eating will help reduce the development of kidney damage. Read on and find what to eat with CKD stage4.

Low protein diet

In CKD stage 4, you are suggested to lower the amount of protein you eat. A low-protein diet will help your kidneys to work with less waste deposition. Protein foods will create protein waste products which should be filtered by your kidneys through urination. More protein food intake will burden the damaged kidneys and cause kidney function decline.

Water Consumption

If you are in the early stage of CKD, you may have a normal amount of water each day. However, when you are in CKD stage4, you may be more likely to develop the symptom of swelling which is a sign of fluid retention.

Most dialysis patients urinate very little or not at all. Limiting fluids between treatments is very important. Without urination, fluid will build up in the body and lead to excess fluid in the heart, lungs, and ankles.

To alleviate this condition, you are suggested to limit your water intake and sodium consumption.

Low sodium diet

High blood pressure and edema are common symptoms for CKD stage4 and both of them will make the Kidney Disease worse. Choosing low sodium diet can help manage this condition and help keep the kidneys healthy.

People in Stage 4 CKD will usually need to visit their doctor every three months or more frequently if required. At this stage, you may have the following possible symptoms, such as high blood pressure, fatigue, Proteinuria, Hematuria, Back Pain etc. If you have one of the symptom, you are suggested to leave a message below.
