Chronic Kidney Disease Stages

Chronic Kidney Disease StagesChronic Kidney Disease is divided into 5 stages which are mainly on the basis of estimated GFR--glomerular filtration rate is the full name.

CKD stage 1

In CKD stage 1, the GFR is higher than 90 and it is described as:

- normal kidney function, but urine finds or structural abnormalities or genetic trait point to the Kidney Disease.

-the treatment for this circumstance requires regulate observation, control of blood pressure.

CKD stage 2

- CKD stage 2 indicates a mild kidney function decline in which the GFR is less than 89, but higher than 60. You may find some symptoms in this stage, such as Hematuria or Proteinuria etc.

- In this condition, you are suggested to make a genetic diagnosis (some specific Tests may be helpful to find the early damage in kidneys) and find the cause, such as Diabetes, High Blood Pressure or Polycystic Kidney Disease.

CKD stage 3

- CKD stage 3 refers to a moderation kidney damage, where the GFR indicates 30~59. Presence of hematuria or proteinuria may suggest progressive renal disease. Also, you may find the changes in blood pressure, creatinine levels and electrolytes levels.

- Most stage 3 can be properly managed in primary care which aims at finding individuals at risk of progressive Kidney Disease and reducing the associated risks.

CKD stage 4

- CKD stage 4 means a severe reduced kidney function which is at risk to develop Kidney Failure or many cases have already start kidney failure stage. In stage 4, the patients may develop complications, like high blood pressure, anemia, bone disease, heart problem etc.

- CKD stage 4 patients need treatments, such as Dialysis, Blood Purification, Chinese Herbal Medicine, Immunotherapy etc.

CKD stage 5

- CKD stage 5 is also known as end stage kidney disease--ESRD and the GFR indicates 15 or less. Many complications and symptoms troubles the patients life, such as being unable to concentrate, making little or no urine, high blood pressure, Heart Failure, Liver Failure etc.

- Treatments are necessary immediately and you need a systemic treatments which involve Dialysis, Kidney Transplant, Blood Purification, Micro-Chinese Medicine, Immunotherapy etc.
