What Is The Rate Of Deterioration In CKD

What Is The Rate Of Deterioration In CKDWhat is the rate of deterioration in CKD? While the answer is different from patient to patient.

CKD is divided into five stages according to patient’s glomerular filtration rate (GFR). In fact, the rate of deterioration in CKD can be affected by many factors, such as patient’s condition, the treatment that patient accepts, patient’s life habits, diet, etc.

For patients who are in the early stage of CKD, like stage one and stage two, their condition is mild, and patient do not have complications, so its deterioration rate is slow, and patient’s condition can be controlled within these stages.

For patients who is in stage 3 CKD, his kidney function is moderately damaged, and patient may have some complications. In fact, patient’s condition can also be controlled in this stage if patient take right measures to cope with his condition. On the other hand, CKD caused by different kinds of kidney disease also has different deterioration rates. But for most patients, it may need over ten years before their disease progresses into stage 5, which is also known as the end stage.

For patients with stage 4 CKD, they will have severe condition, and some obvious complications may also appear in this stage. Even though patient has severe condition in this stage, right treatment can effectively slow down the progression of CKD, and it can cause several years before CKD progresses into stage 5. But if patient do not have appropriate treatment, and often meet factors like infection ans cold, his disease can progress into the end stage in just several weeks.

While for patient who is in the end stage of CKD, his kidney function is not able to complete its work, and lots of wastes will accumulate in patient’s blood, so patient will need to accept dialysis or kidney transplant to prolong his lifetime. For most patients, dialysis can make them live more than five years, and if patient do not accept dialysis, he may just live for several months.
