Renal Disease & Safe Medication for Constipation

Details: Someone I know has had constipation due to renal disease. Could you tell me what medication is safe for him to take and get rid of this problem?

Constipation is common among Kidney Disease patients. Senna tablets or liquid are proper to treat this problem for renal disease patients. Avoid fybogel and oral rehydration salts. If constipation persists, he should seek medical advice.

In addition to medication, there are other paths to relieve his problem:

1. Add kidney friendly high fiber foods in the diet;

2. Do regular physical activities such as walk, stretching, etc;

3. When one have to go to the restroom-go. Don't hold on to it.

4. Avoid mineral oil, epsom salts, milk of magnesium, and Correctol®.
