Details: Hello, my father has PKD and he lives with one kidney now. How does one inherit polycystic kidney disease? How much possible I will develop PKD? My uncle and my grandma also were affected by this disease.

Generally speaking, a person inherit Polycystic Kidney Disease by gene. In some cases, even there is no genetic factor, a person may also develop PKD accidentally.

In most cases, if your father or mother has PKD, you have 50% of chance to be affected. However, if your both parents are sufferers, your chance will improve to 75%.
