Topics: Kidney Failure High Creatinine Level

Details: I have some questions about my father conditions. May u help me? He was suffering of Renal failure for more than 15 years. His creatinine level is as high as 370umol/dl.

Expert Answer

Wish you a nice day. As for your father’s case, I would be glad if i can offer some help.

Considering the increase in serum creatinine level, your father's kidney condition has been progressing gradually. Now his serum creatinine level is about 370umol/dl. If there is no serious complications like heart failure (high blood potassium level can lead to heart problem, and that is why i asked his potassium level during phone talk) or serious swelling in body, there is still no necessity for dialysis. Even though Dialysis is not a necessity now, it might become a necessity if his kidney function further declines.

And, frankly speaking, your father's present condition still has a great chance for avoiding dialysis and Kidney Transplant.
