Topics: Nephrotic Syndrome Healthy Lifestyle

Details: My child has Nephrotic Syndrome, and he has protein and blood in urine. What physical activities can he do at home?

Expert Answer

Please, don’t worry. Nephrotic Syndrome is one common kidney disease for children. Proteinuria is one sign of Nephrotic Syndrome, and it is one important factor to affect the prognosis of Nephrotic Syndrome. In some cases, patients may also have blood in urine, which is also accompanied by urinary tract infections.

When patients have proteinuria and blood in urine, they are suggested to have more rest in bed. Of course, some gentle exercise is helpful to improve their overall health condition. For children, walking around the house is good to do at home. If they want to have more choices, they should manage their proteinuria and hematuria effectively.

To reduce the side effects of medicines, we suggest children with Nephrotic Syndrome to take Chinese Herbal Medicine. Some Chinese medicines are proven to have effects on repairing damaged kidney cells and rebuilding kidney filtering structure. The detailed prescription should depend on patients’ illness condition.

If you want to learn what medicines are beneficial for your baby, you should tell us more about his illness condition or latest test result.
