Details: I am trying to figure out why my left kidney has so much pain at night. I was diagnosed with FSGS three years ago. I also have kidney cysts.
According to your description, your severe pain at left kidney may be due to either FSGS or kidney cyst.
If your kidney cyst is larger than 5cm, your kidney pain at night is more likely to be caused by enlarged kidney cysts. On one hand, enlarged kidney cysts can oppress their surrounding kidney tissues. Then, nerve in these tissues are pulled and causes pain. On the other hand, the pressure from surrounding tissues may cause kidney cyst to rupture easily. When urinary tract is infected by sac fluid, patients’ kidney pain is associated with urinary tract infections.
If your kidney cyst is small, your kidney pain must have a close link with decline of kidney function. Decreased kidney function causes less blood to be filtered every minute. As less nutrition and oxygen provided for functioning tissues, patients may have kidney pain easily. Besides, FSGS may also increase the risk of kidney stones and urinary tract infection, which are also causes of left kidney pain.
Different causes need different treatments. Check the underlying cause of your kidney pain with doctor online, and then you can ease your pain effectively.
