Are WBCs Elevated with Renal Disease

Topics: CKD CKD Diagnosis

Details: I have chronic kidney disease and my WBCs increases. Why?

Expert Answer

WBC refers to white blood cell count. Although it is one essential blood test for kidney disease patients, not all kidney patients will have elevated WBCs. If it is higher than the normal, it is more likely to indicate some underlying disorder.

The elevation of WBCs is due to inflammation in certain region of the body and the protective measure done by the body. When harmful substances attack the body, the body will produce more white blood cells to swallow harmful substances. In clinic, doctors just use the WBC level to determine whether the body has inflammation such as cold, fever, injury, infection, and so on.

If patients are diagnosed with high WBCs, they should take prompt treatment to manage inflammation and protect their organs from damage. With this problem, patients are suggested to drink more water.

Besides, they should also take some therapies to regulate their immune system, maintain a stable internal environment and prevent inflammatory reactions. To obtain these therapeutic effects, Medicated Bath, Acupuncture, Cycle Therapy, and some other therapies are often used. Immunotherapy is one therapy that can both reduce WBC level and rebuild kidney functioning tissues. Check with the doctor online to determine what therapies are good for you.
