How Can I Stop Proteinuria 360 mg with IgA Nephropathy

Posted: by Dr.Zhao Time: 2014-11-20 05:38

Topics: IgA Nephropathy Treatment IgA Nephropathy

Details: I was diagnosed with IgA Nephropathy, and my protein in urine in 24 hours is 360 mg now after taking prednisone. How can I stop protein leakage?

Expert Answer

The amount of protein in patients’ urine is less than 150 mg/24h, so proteinuria 360 mg is still quite higher than the normal. If proteinuria is uncontrolled effectively, it may induce further kidney damage and some other problems such as malnutrition, anemia, fatigue, hair loss, and so on.

Prednisone is one medication that can inhibit protein leakage and prevent inflammatory reactions within kidneys, but it can’t treat IgA Nephropathy from the root. In view of this, some more systemic treatments are needed.

Immunotherapy is based on Chinese medicine and western medicine. Compared with steroids and immunosuppressants, Immunotherapy can not only treat IgA Nephropathy fundamentally but also produce fewer side effects. Through removing immune complexes, regulating the immune system and repairing damaged kidney cells, kidney filtering system can be rebuilt successfully. At the same time, patients’ protein leakage can be managed very well.
