Should Patients with Kidney Creatinine of 425 or 429 Begin Dialysis

Posted: by Dr.Zhao Time: 2014-08-08 02:32

Topics: Dialysis High Creatinine Level Treatment

Details: My dad has kidney creatinine of 425 or 429. I believe it is stage 5, but he doesn’t want to begin dialysis. What should we do?

Expert Answer

Now, we only know your father’s creatinine level is 425 or 429 umol/L, so we can’t determine whether your father’s kidney disease has progressed into stage 5. This is because chronic kidney disease is divided into five stages according to glomerular filtration rate instead of serum creatinine level.

Generally, creatinine 425 or 429 indicates patients’ illness condition aggravates into stage 3 or stage 4. In this case, your father’s kidney disease can still be reversed with prompt and effective treatments, so he can avoid dialysis successfully. Otherwise, dialysis or kidney transplant will be his last and only treatment choice.

Compared with western medicine, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is worth a try, because correct Chinese medicines can help provide more blood and oxygen for inherent kidney cells and increase the self-curative ability of damaged kidney cells. When kidney function level increases successfully, your father indeed can live without dialysis healthily.

To determine what medicines are suitable for the patient, we need to know patients’ illness condition in detail. Therefore, you are recommended to consult the doctor online directly.
