What Should I Do with Kidney Stones and Cysts in Both Kidneys

Posted: by Dr.Zhao Time: 2014-07-20 09:25

Topics: PKD Kidney Cyst

Details: I am 53 years old, male. I am diagnosed with kidney stones and cysts in both kidneys. I have previously urinated stones and used herbs combination e.g. remain capsule. What should I do now?

Expert Answer

As you describe, I suggest you to determine which type of kidney cyst you have. In clinic, when elderly people have more than 3 cysts in each kidney, they may be supposed to have Polycystic Kidney Disease. Aside from cysts, kidney stones are common complications of PKD. Since you have kidney stones and cysts in both kidneys, it is better for you to detect whether your kidney cyst is simple or PKD.

If they are simple kidney cysts, it will be easier to deal with them as well as kidney stones. For too big kidney cysts and kidney stones, we suggest surgery to remove them directly. As for small kidney cysts, conservative treatments are better that can shrink all kidney cysts and dissolve all kidney stones simultaneously.

If they are Polycystic Kidney Cyst, it will be much difficult to manage them. In addition to draining sac fluid and removing kidney stones, you should also take some treatments to protect your remaining kidney functioning tissues. That’s to say, more systemic treatments are needed.

To determine which type of kidney cyst you have or seek effective treatment plan, you can consult the doctor online directly or email to kidneyservice@hotmail.com.
