Expert Answer

Focal segmental glomerulonephritis refers to some sections of glomeruli are scarred. Glomeruli, like a “renal filter” to process the blood throughout your body. If they are damaged to scarred, the protein may begin leak into the urine, instead of staying in the blood. And it will cause series of symptoms, such as Proteinuria, Edema, high blood pressure, frequent urination at night etc.

If FSGS cannot treated timely, the scarred tissues will become dead and affect the healthy tissues to lose kidney function gradually. Each year, many cases of FSGS step into Kidney Failure Stage.
