Posted: by Inez Stockard Time: 2013-01-11 17:29

Topics: ESRD GFR

Details: I am Inez Stockard. I have End Stage Kidney Disease, GFR between 14~19. Sleep 16~18 hours a day. Low hemoglobin level. Why I sleep so much?

Expert Answer

I am now replying your message on our website concerning your renal condition. Given your description, your ESRD may affect your nerves system which is featured by sleepiness. In addition, renal function decline (GFR 14~19)can also lead to serious Anemia. If your hemoglobin level in blood test show very low index, this might be also one reason why you feel easy fatigue and having no mood to do anything. If you have Diabetes or other physical problem, it might be a result of combined physical problems. So, I still hope you can reply me with more details on the physical condition you are facing now.

In addition, your GFR is now between 14ml/min to 19ml/min, and I believe doctor has not put you on dialysis. The priority for your condition now consists of two parts. One is reducing toxin level within blood and another one is protecting and repairing renal damage. We can talk more details on corresponding treatments after receiving more details from you.
